Hi guys, are you enjoying the end of Summer? I am excited to see coming back the season for warm and cozy coffee. Around a year ago, Starbucks launched Nespresso compatible capsule. I was super excited when it comes out, and I finally decided to share the review with you. If you are curious about Starbucks' small capsules or thinking to change your Nespresso capsule to Starbucks', this posting is all for you.
Currently, they are selling 5 kinds of Starbucks capsules, but I expect they will release more; I don't think Starbucks doesn't need to launch the range as much as Nespresso did, but it is definitely nice to have more options.
The price, 20 for GBP 6, is not bad, but you can find a lot of cheaper compatible capsules online. So, I was wondering whether it is worth to spend a similar amount of money to Nespresso capsules.
Regardless of other features, the box design is gorgeous itself.
As you can see, it seems like a plastic pot. When we use disposable pots, we can't be away from the concerning about the waste problem. As I search on the website, SA Starbucks is doing recycling program but I couldn't find any information on UK Starbucks website. At least, it's good to know there is a way to recycle it.
If you are a Nespresso user, you will know that the water will give a proper pressure in the capsule to extract perfect aroma and crema. That's why some tacky pots are just exploded or stuck inside of the machine. As the picture, the film(seems like aluminum) doesn't seem strong enough, but it is working really well in the machine. I tried more than 40 capsules, but there was no broken capsule. It is the pretty nice result as 20-30% of the tacky ones were broken.
Also, Statbucks capsules have their own colour. You might not understand how important the colour is; I bought 1 box of cheap compatible capsules(around 120 counts), and I put them in a container, do you know what happened? The appearances are totally same, I obviously expected the name is marked somewhere but there is nowhere. Yeah, seriously, I couldn't even know which one is Decaf, which one is a strong one. So, this colouring system is very thoughtful.
The most important thing is its flavour, these capsules are pretty nice as you can feel Starbucks' unique aroma. Especially, you are a lungo lover, you will love these capsules. However, you prefer ristretto, you might be disappointed at the crema. Yes, Starbucks capsules carry out store quality aroma, but it's lack of crema because of the film which is thin and weak.
I prefer to enjoy lungo more like Americano with Starbucks capsules. Nespresso gives amazing espresso experience, but it goes tacky with a lot of water. However, Starbucks' is still nice with lots of water. If you like lungo style coffee, go for Starbucks capsules.
